Sometimes mermaid hair isn’t enough. Other times it’s not high fashion enough. Maybe I just want to feel like a unicorn for a day. In times like these, the only thing to do is color your eyebrows.
Now it’s common knowledge that I LOVE tinting my eyebrows, but more recently I’ve become addicted to the trend of temporary brightly colored brows.
No longer just a trend for the runway, I believe anyone can rock colored eyebrows.
I’ve never believed that high fashion is too cool for street wear, and colorful eyebrows are no exception. Here’s the key to pulling them off.
- Your brows should be manicured. The fuller the better, but tweeze the strays away.
- The rest of your face should be made up, but minimally. Its strange to have zero makeup and crazy eyebrows, but even worse if you’ve emphasized all of your features. Can you say clown costume?
- Fixing the color. We will get into this more later, but nothing is less sexy than pink eyebrows dripping down your face.
- Own it. The only way to pull off any sort of fashion and beauty statement is to own the shit out of it. Someone looks at your funny because your eyebrows are purple? Don’t even worry about it, they’re just thinking to themselves that they wish they had the guts to wear purple eyebrows in public.
How to achieve the perfect colored eyebrows:
I’ve found a few ways to achieve a successful colored brow, and the key is always layering products.
First base eyebrows in colored mascara–I like the one by NYX. Then, while the mascara is still wet, cover brow in a colored eyeshadow. I’ve been using a purple by Urban Decay. The more intense the pigment, the better the brow!
For those with lighter, more controllable brows, try penciling in your brow in a colorful liner, like Urban Decay 24/7 Liner. Again you’ll want an intense pigment to sell the look.
For either method, seal with a setting spray, and if you’re really serious, a dab of hairspray.
And just like that, you’re ready to face another day, with the best brows yet.
Peace. Love. and Bobby Pins.
